Laphroaig Càirdeas was released here in Sweden at the beginning of the month. According to the marketing blurb, it's a vatting of 13, 15 and 17 year old whisky from ex-Maker's Mark casks. Apparently, it's going to be this year's Feis Ile bottling and for some reason it's sold in Sweden before the festival. "Càirdeas" is the Gaelic word for "friendship" and it seems that Laphroaig has many friends in Sweden =)
I tasted it in a head-to-head with the "Quarter Cask":
Laphroaig Càirdeas (55%):
Fresh, fruity nose with notes of wood smoke, sawdust and citrus fruits; light, sweet
palate with a smoky finish; unusually light and mild for a Laphroaig but quite moreish

Laphroaig Quarter Cask (48%):
Unusual palate with a nice fruitiness; quite medicinal finish; fairly young
but has interesting flavours (best without water)
