Fahrenheit 173 - Whisky

Strathmill 12 y.o. (Flora & Fauna, 43%):
Fragrant nose with oak shavings, honey, orange and apricot. Nice but a bit heavy on the oak. Sweet, fruity palate with honey and oak. A note of eucalyptus. Spicy and fairly hot but mellows with a drop of water. The finish is quite oaky yet nice. All in all nice and complex but a little too oaky. (86 p)

Strathmill 1996, bottled 2009 (Manager's Choice, 60.1%):
Fresh, fragrant, fruity nose with notes of eucalyptus, apples and pears. Unusual but won­der­ful! Light, clean, bal­anced palate with green fruits. De­velops oak. Very nice finish: Oaky yet fresh, with notes of butter and sage. All in all light and fresh, bal­anced and more-ish. A won­der­ful apéritif (but ridiculously overpriced). (90 p)

Strathmill 1974, 37 y.o. (The Whisky Agency for Whisky Ship, 44.4%):
Unusual but very nice nose with notes of tropical fruits, coconut, fried butter, oak and wet cardboard. Light, sweet, fruity palate, de­velops oak. Nice, but not as nice as the nose. Oak, vanilla and traces of the fruits on the finish. (87 p)
