Lagavulin 56.4% Thick, musty peat on the nose. Also notes of green fruits and oak. The palate is surprisingly mild and sweet at first with notes of apples and pears, then drying, turns spicy and develops lots of peat. Dry, malty, very peaty finish with notes of coal, tar and mint. All in all peaty and powerful but with fresh fruity notes. (8th release, b. 2008) Score: 87 p |
